Edward “Eddie” Sitzman, In Memory Of (August 2, 2003-July 15, 2025): Judson University — RISE Program (Select Milk Scholarship Award)

Edward “Eddie” Sitzman was awarded a Select Milk Scholarship Award and was set to start his freshman year in the Judson University RISE Program, where he planned to study Child Development. Eddie dreamed of becoming a teacher’s assistant in a preschool or kindergarten and living independently with friends.
Eddie was a dedicated athlete and fierce competitor who earned 59 Special Olympics medals in sports including track and field, unified soccer, basketball, golf, floor hockey, and powerlifting. As a Special Olympics Athlete Leader, he advocated for inclusion and promoted programs that support people of all abilities.
Throughout his education, Eddie was primarily in inclusive academic classes and paved the way for inclusive education in the Oak Park school districts. He worked hard academically and in the community, holding a paid job at Play It Again Sports for four years and volunteering at the Oak Park Fire Department, Wonder Works Children’s Museum, and as a teacher’s assistant in preschool and kindergarten classrooms.
Known for his unwavering work ethic, positive leadership, and passion for community, Eddie was also a 15-year usher at mass. He loved basketball, golf, soccer, powerlifting, and listening to music ranging from country and rock to jazz and boy bands. Eddie especially enjoyed live music and spending time with his family and friends.
Eddie was proud of who he was and believed that with support and determination, everyone can become the best version of themselves. Eddie’s confidence and leadership inspired countless individuals of all abilities.
Eddie will always be a cherished part of the Ruby’s Rainbow family. We will never forget him and are forever grateful for the incredible impact he had on our community and beyond.
