Daniel Luebke: Shepherds College (Huddy Buddy Scholarship Award)

Daniel Luebke is this year’s recipient of a Ruby’s Rainbow Huddy Buddy Scholarship Award! This fall, Daniel will begin his first year at Shepherds College, where he plans to study technology and hospitality.

Daniel has big goals for his future. He hopes to live independently and work in a technology or office role, possibly within the hospitality field. He’s excited to grow his skills and continue his path toward greater independence.

A longtime Special Olympics athlete, Daniel swims competitively and also participates in other events throughout the year. He’s proud to say he once beat his dad in a 100-meter freestyle race. Outside of sports, Daniel is an active member of his church choir and the Abilities for All Choir. He loves public speaking, playing the piano, and cooking his own meals.

Daniel has already accomplished so much. He has lived independently in Neenah, Wisconsin with caregiver support two mornings a week for the past 12 years. He has also worked for a clinic as an environmental assistant for 10 years. Daniel is an experienced speaker, sharing his story at fundraisers, schools, and community events. He has represented Special Olympics Wisconsin through the Athlete Leadership Program and as part of the Global Messenger Program.

Above all, Daniel is a family guy. He loves being a big brother and uncle, and his family is incredibly proud of the confidence and personality that have helped him thrive.
