Ben St. Lawrence: Syracuse University — InclusiveU (William Ömer Er Scholarship Award)

Ben St. Lawrence is this year’s recipient of the Ruby’s Rainbow William Ömer Er Scholarship Award! This fall, he will begin his freshman year at Syracuse University – InclusiveU, where he plans to study Physical Education to become a gym teacher.
Ben’s top goals include becoming independent and earning an Assistant Teaching Certificate. He’s committed to staying focused, working hard, and continuing to push himself forward.
An accomplished athlete, Ben loves running, weightlifting, swimming, and cheering on Boston sports teams. Ben is a dedicated long-distance runner who completed a half marathon in Newburyport in 2022. His time with the Newburyport cross-country team taught him the value of commitment, hard work, and being part of a supportive community. He was honored with the Positive Attitude Award during his senior year.
He is especially proud of being selected by the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) for their Times Square photo display, raising awareness and celebrating individuals with Down syndrome. With his determination, love for fitness, and drive to make a difference, Ben is ready to take on this exciting new chapter at Syracuse.
