James Bowers: Clemson University – ClemsonLIFE

James is this year’s recipient of the Ruby’s Rainbow Chris & Chris Scholarship Award. This fall, he begins his freshman year in the ClemsonLIFE program at Clemson University, where he is excited to study independent living and employment. His future plans include living independently and having a job in his community.

James loves dancing, singing karaoke and hanging out with friends. Along with his family, he lived and volunteered in Albania for a year at the Jonathan Center, an organization that provides services for people with Down syndrome. James was an advocate in the community, demonstrating the capabilities of people with Down syndrome. After returning from Albania, he became the cofounder of a family business that enables the Bowerses to donate a portion of their proceeds to the Jonathan Center.
