Alexandra (Allie) Hope Hayes – Oakland Community College (TEKsystems Scholarship Award)

Allie is this year’s recipient of the Ruby’s Rainbow TEKsystems Scholarship Award. This fall, she begins her second year at Oakland Community College, where she is working toward her Associate of Arts degree. She currently plans to work toward a career in journalism, and she would also like to provide advice to middle-schoolers regarding educational and social challenges.

Allie loves dancing, gardening, reading, journaling and Diamond Dotz. She is very proud to have achieved a 4.0 GPA in her first year of college. She has also worked on getting legislation passed to protect Michigan’s vulnerable adults from online predators and has spoken three times at committee meetings in the Michigan House of Representatives. Allie believes kindness matters and is elated to be a college student.
