Walker is a three-time Rockin’ Recipient attending the Path 2 Independence (P2I) program at the University of Nevada, Reno, where he lives in an apartment with a roommate and studies liberal arts. He has been enjoying developing his independent living skills in college as well as taking music courses. He loves music and DJing, and wants to work as a DJ after college.
Walker also loves doing photography as well as playing and watching basketball. He knows the stats of nearly every current NBA player and those of many past players. On campus, he is active in Best Buddies as well as his campus Christian fellowship group. He is also in the Urban Dance club at school and is proud to have won the end-of-year “Most Valuable Dancer” award.
Earlier this spring, Walker was invited to be the keynote speaker at a meeting for parents of students with special needs in his local school district. He spoke to the group about his experiences in college and with living independently. His professors and mentors describe Walker as determined, a delight to be around, and someone who brings out the best in others. We see these qualities in you, Walker! You rock!
