Grace McDonald – Syracuse University InclusiveU (Colin McEnerney Scholarship Award)

Grace is a two-time Rockin’ Recipient and this year’s recipient of the Ruby’s Rainbow Colin McEnerney Scholarship Award. She loves attending the InclusiveU program at Syracuse University, where she will begin her second year this fall and continue her dream of living a full life.

Last year, Grace was one of only two InclusiveU students to take a Disability Design course on campus. She learned several new skills in the class, including sewing, and also took part in a Shark Tank-style design competition with some classmates. She and her team won first place for the modified chair they designed, including the top prize of $10,000!

Her professors and mentors describe Grace as kind and generous, and someone who brings out the best in others. Her advice for other students with Down syndrome who are considering post-secondary education is, “DO IT! You will have a better life. Don’t give up!” We think that is great advice, Grace! We are so proud of you—you rock!
