Melissa Walker – University of Alabama–Tuscaloosa (Warriors For Walt Scholarship Award)

Melissa is this year’s Ruby’s Rainbow Warriors For Walt Scholarship Award recipient. This fall she will begin her second year in the CCOS program at the University of Alabama–Tuscaloosa, where she is pursuing her certificate in occupational studies. After graduating from CCOS, she plans to enter the teacher education program, as she loves education and helping students, and her goal is to become a teacher.

Melissa has served in the UA Student Government Association as the CCOS Representative, and was crowned Miss Unique in 2019. In high school, she was an Honor Roll student, was active in the marching band, and was elected homecoming representative her senior year. One of her goals is to graduate from CCOS with a 3.8 GPA. Her teachers and mentors describe her as someone who exudes positivity and determination. We think you rock, Melissa! We are so proud of you!
