Donovan O’Malley – Spring Hill College (PCSI Scholarship Award)

Donovan is this year’s Ruby’s Rainbow PCSI Scholarship Award Recipient. He is in his third year at Spring Hill College, where he is studying poetry and other interests. He is a member of his college’s basketball team as well as the Sodality Club. He has spoken to various groups, including his high school student body, about disability awareness and what it means to live with Down syndrome. He loves golfing with his father, playing video games and watching Netflix, writing poetry, and spending time with friends. He also loves attending sporting events, and enjoys having “personal tailgate” parties in his living room while watching college football.

In his application for a Ruby’s Rainbow scholarship, Donovan conducted an interview with himself in which he revealed his personal connection with the Latin phrase “cura personalis,” which means “care for the whole person.” For Donovan, this includes the importance of examining yourself and how you affect others.
