Anna Mutter – College Steps at Northern Virginia Community College (Mullen Family Scholarship Award)

Anna is a two-time Rockin’ Recipient and this year’s Ruby’s Rainbow Mullen Family Scholarship Award recipient. She attends the College Steps program at Northern Virginia Community College, where she is studying Communications so she can reach her goal of having a career in public speaking. Last year was her first year in college, and she earned a high GPA and made the Dean’s List both semesters.

Anna is active in Special Olympics softball and basketball, and is the founder and president of the Random Acts of Kindness club on her campus. She says, “I started this club because I believe that our world needs love and kindness,” and envisions the club as a place where people at NOVA are treated with kindness and respect. For the parents of other students with Down syndrome, Anna has this advice: “It’s okay to be a little scared for your child, but believe in them.” We believe in you, Anna! You rock!
