Rachel Handlin – California Institute of the Arts
2019
Rachel Handlin is a four-time Rockin’ Recipient who is headed into her fourth year at California Institute of the Arts, where she is pursuing her Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography. She has had numerous photography exhibitions in galleries in both the United States and abroad; her most recent exhibition, titled “Scooter Shots,” was a series of photographs scooter side-view mirror reflections, on display in a New York gallery. She also recently completed a ceramics independent study at CalArts, and has been blending that medium with photography to create unique effects. She started the View Camera Club on campus for students who are majoring in photography, and she works as a bartender at weekly gallery shows.
Rachel says that her “Scooter Shots” demonstrate her ability to “see things other people don’t see.” She plans to pursue a Master’s degree in Fine Arts after she graduates from CalArts. Rachel, we think you rock!
