Sam Dess – Edgewood College Cutting Edge Program (Greg Cummings Scholarship Award)

Sam Dess has applied for the Cutting Edge program at Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin, and in addition to being a student, Sam is a Best Buddies Ambassador. Best Buddies is working to eliminate isolation of the 200 million people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Sam is also on a hip-hop dance team called the Energizers Dream Team.
In his free time, Sam enjoys cheering on the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, and the Milwaukee Brewers. He also enjoys the show ‘Glee’ because you get to see how “everyone is special inside” and it teaches people to embrace their talents.
Sam’s goal is to someday be a special education teacher — specifically working with students in 6th to 12th grades. He wants to teach them the same things he hopes to learn in the Cutting Edge program: how to live independently, how to work hard, be a good person, and make your dreams come true.
