Genevieve Blachowiak: University of North Florida – On Campus Transition (Mary Margaret Pascal Scholarship Award)
2017
“Change is a good thing. Don’t be scared, it’s LIFE!” – Genevieve Blachowiak
Genevieve is going to the University of Northern Florida and wants to work with kids, cook and “be an owner.” Genevieve was active in school, was in Girl Scouts and does tae kwon do. Genevieve is very well rounded and active in her community, and really loves acting. Her acting instructor said about her, “I think I’ve learned more from Genna than she has learned from me,” and called her “wildly creative and writes her own songs and screenplays.”
Genevieve has three jobs: maintaining fish tanks, doing part-time food prep at a local restaurant, and escorting guests and preparing pamphlets at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
When asked why she took her birthday money to buy school supplies for homeless kids, Genna said, “Because I care.”
