Candace is a two-time Rockin’ Recipient and this year’s recipient of the Ruby’s Rainbow Worthy Scholarship Award. She is very excited to start her sophomore year this fall in the Sooner Works program at the University of Oklahoma. She was selected to be a member of the President’s Leadership class, where she had the opportunity to meet the President of the University and interact with many student leaders. Candace was spotlighted in the Spring 2021 issue of the leadership class newsletter, in which it was written that “Candace dares greatly every single day”—words that those who know her agree with deeply. Candace loves to dance and makes sure to have a dance class in her schedule every semester at school. During the summer, she taught weekly dance classes to two age groups of students with Down syndrome. The classes were hosted by the Down Syndrome Partnership of North Texas, an organization Candace has actively supported for years through her Step Up for Down Syndrome team. After finishing at OU, she hopes to become a dance teacher.
