Anna is a two-time Rockin’ Recipient and this year’s recipient of the Ruby’s Rainbow Herrington Family Scholarship Award. This fall she will be entering her second year at Chapel Haven REACH, where she made many genuine friendships during her first year and developed in many areas, including her math and grocery shopping skills as well as her overall independence.
Two of Anna’s favorite classes last year were theater classes that focused on on-camera skills and building a YouTube channel. She also enjoyed doing color guard and continuing to work out regularly for her health, as well as planning and hosting weekly Zooms with her classmates.
Anna’s advice for other students with Down syndrome who are considering college is to “never give up and keep trucking along.” She points out that “life can be a hard thing for anyone, but college is a big life-changing event.” We think that is great advice, Anna! You rock!
