The human need to be loved and accepted, exactly as we are
October 18, 2021

Loneliness. My mama heart breaks at the thought of Ruby (or anyone!) sitting alone at lunch or playing by herself at recess. And the reality is we are going through a lot of this right now. I have had meaningful conversations with all of her teachers about how much I want her to be loved and accepted. How connecting with others is more important to me than any test score.
What I am seeing on these campus visits with our recipients time and time again is they ARE loved and accepted for exactly who they are. Not only that, they are building deep, meaningful friendships. They are HAPPY. This brings my mama heart so much hope and helps me to realize that we are all on our own path…and Ruby will find her way and people will be attracted to her joy and her light because of who she is.

Next time you see someone who is sitting alone…give them a smile or say hi! You never know who might truly need it!
