“I like to say that I have the bravery and belief of the first-timers. Somewhere, there was a child whose parent was the first one to say, ‘I’m not sending my kid to an institution.’ And look what happened.
“Somewhere there was a person with Down syndrome that was the first to go to college. And I want that kind of hope that their parents did to say… ‘What if?’“
