People with disabilities don’t need to be protected from failing.
October 12, 2018
Happy Fact Friday, y’all!!
Here is a little myth for you:
People with disabilities need to be protected from failing. (I know, mama bears…GASP!!)
FACT:
People with disabilities have a right to participate in the full range of human experiences, including success and failure. Employers should have the same expectations of and work requirements for all employees.
People with disabilities also have the right to not just dream big, but actually go for those dreams. And if there are bumps in the road or they fail? That’s how we learn, grow, build inner strength and truly reach our potential. One thing I know for sure is that raising that expectation will only increase the successes. I see it every day in my own Ruby Doobs!!
So let’s all just keep on dreamin’ those BIG DREAMS, shall we?!?! Cuz ya never know, these lil’ ladies may become the first lady Firefighters rockin’ that extra chromosome!!
