Down Syndrome Awareness Month — Alex: The Artist
October 16, 2025
Alex’s mom says it best—focus on strengths and “let go and let grow.” That’s exactly what Alex is doing…not only growing but THRIVING! ❤️
Alex graduated from the University of Louisiana in Lafayette, where she loved being part of a sisterhood and making lifelong friends. College wasn’t just about classes for her, it was about gaining independence, finding community, and building the courage to step into her future.
She is now working as a full time teaching assistant at an elementary school in the district that supported her in full inclusion from K-12! She has also continued to work on her artwork with her “little art sidekick.” Together they’ve created nearly 300 paintings, helped raise over $80,000 for charities, and even published a coffee table book!!
Keep dreaming, Alex!! We are SO PROUD of you!!
