One of the most meaningful things about getting to hand deliver scholarships to our recipients these past several years has been bringing Nella with us to be part of it–to connect her with someone with Down syndrome just like her and see what opportunities are available to her. She understands it’s special–to see the excitement, the tears, to hear the cheers as our recipient reads their scholarship letter aloud. All our kids choose different paths, and while college isn’t the end-all be-all for everyone, the fact that it’s a reachable dream for our kids when it didn’t used to be means everything.
