Johanne Mayer

I am a woman who has Down syndrome who is an aunt and dog mom, which both are the most important things about my life. I got my associate’s degree and I’ve mentored students with special needs at the same community college where I got my degree. I have volunteered for many different things such as a dog rescue where I got my dog. For most of my life I have been dealing with the challenges and discriminations that come along with my disability, and this is what motivates me with my advocacy and policy journey to work towards a more inclusive world for all. I have a podcast called Inclusive Views, am a part of the Ambassador program for the National Down Syndrome Society and I graduated from NJ Partners in Policymaking. Helping others and animals is truly my passion.
