Jaclyn Legato

My name is Jackie Legato, and I live in Wayne, NJ, with my husband, Joe, and our three kids: Andy (7), Christopher (4), and Lucas (14 months). Lucas has been rocking his extra chromosome for 14 months now, and he has already shown us just how incredibly strong he is. Lucas loves smiling, clapping, pulling up, and cruising around! But his favorite thing to do is play with his two brothers. My husband and I knew early on in my pregnancy that Lucas would be extra special. While it was initially a shock, we quickly realized how incredibly lucky we were to be able to bring him into this world. Lucas is here to show the world what it really looks like to have Down syndrome. Over the past year, Lucas has spread so much love and joy to everyone he meets. We can’t wait to see all the amazing things he will teach us, all while bringing endless joy and love to our lives.

My hope in being involved with the incredible organization Ruby’s Rainbow is to do our part in spreading awareness about Down syndrome, while also helping to provide scholarships for some truly amazing people. Thanks to Ruby’s Rainbow, I know that college is a possibility for Lucas. His future is so bright! One day, it could be Lucas who is accepting a scholarship like this. My goal is to raise $3,000 and award a deserving, kind, and intelligent individual with Down syndrome a scholarship in Lucas’s name. With your help, I know we can do it!
