Hello everyone! I am an education encourager and my name is Allison Stern. I’m married to my not-as-outgoing high school sweetheart Tom, and we have three kids together. During the school year, my students call me Mrs. Stern, and I am an elementary dyslexia teacher largely in part because my two oldest kiddos are dyslexic. However, I have been teaching elementary students with special needs for the past 17 years.

Let’s rewind to five years ago when, at 13 weeks pregnant, I found out our daughter Clara June would be a kiddo with Down syndrome. Living in the ATX area, I discovered Ruby’s Rainbow early on and knew that I wanted to help support their mission. I mean, come on – Clara is a rainbow baby, and I am a teacher! Our family bowled in 2022 at Ruby’s RainBOWL and we had a blast! My 3/21 Pledge Committee profile picture was taken by my husband at this event.

Coming together as a community to raise money for scholarships for higher education is so empowering and fun! As a mama to Clara, it is so encouraging to know that there are other like-minded individuals who know that our kiddos are so capable of so much more than what the world expects of them. I met Liz in Nashville at a Rockin’ Moms 2019 Retreat when Clara was one year old, right before her open-heart surgery, and she has been nothing but a rainbow to me ever since. I attended the Lucky Mamas Retreat in Fall 2022 with Liz and Heather Avis, and it only made me love their mission more and truly know how they both are changing the narrative every day for our children. Dream big and let’s paint some rainbows this year, because our kiddos can!
