Taryn is attending the UNCG Beyond Academics program in the fall of 2015 and achieving her life-long dream of being a college student. She is no stranger to reaching goals and accomplishments though! She won “Volunteer of the Year Award” in 2014 at Hickory Community Theatre. She makes scarves and hats and donates them to the local soup kitchen or sends them overseas to our troops. She also won the “Most Confident Award” from her cheerleading team and was even voted Prom Queen her senior year of high school. In 2012, Taryn was a Panel Presenter at the National Down Syndrome Conference in Washington D.C.
Taryn has always loved school and wanted to learn, even bugging her teachers to give her extra homework! She is so excited about college and is looking forward to learning Spanish, improving her Sign Language, comprehension and math skills. She believes she can change her life and be more independent. We believe it too Taryn!! Keep on rockin’ it!!
