Leeann is set to begin her first year at Rhode Island College, where she plans to improve her independence skills. She hopes to work in a nursing home someday.
In high school, Leeann was active in chorus and theatre as well as Unified Basketball and Volleyball with Special Olympics. She won several awards including a Spirit of the Sport award and Outstanding Senior Athlete. An accomplished martial artist, she has a black belt in karate. She has done cleaning and restocking with Amica for the past three years and also volunteers at PetSmart, working with cats.
In her scholarship application, Leann wrote, “Caring for people and helping out would make me happy to have as a job.” We think that is an important and inspiring goal. Keep on rockin’ it, Leann — we wish you the best of luck at RIC!
