2019

Anna Moates is a two-time Rockin’ Recipient and this year’s Ruby’s Rainbow Miles Sedam Scholarship Award recipient. She will be entering her sophomore year at Auburn University in the EAGLES Program. Anna was a Diamond Doll last year at Auburn, hosting Auburn Baseball games and singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” in the seventh inning of every game. She has also followed in her two older sisters’ footsteps by joining the Auburn Singers, and she was chosen this spring to be a School of Education Ambassador, welcoming people to events on campus and handing out programs. She works in the campus dining hall.

Anna’s advice for young people with Down syndrome is “to embrace who you are,” and her advice for parents of children rockin’ that extra chromosome is “to help their child to follow their dreams and to pray for them too.” We think that is great advice! She says, “I am so thankful for the Eagles Program! I’m also thankful for Ruby’s Rainbow for raising awareness! War Eagle!” We are thankful for the inspiration you bring to other people and students with Down syndrome, Anna — you rock!
