Rockin’ Recipient Erin Hawley, a Kent State senior, has been taking nursing courses through the university’s CCS Program. CCS students have the opportunity to guide their own course of education, to try different classes, find what they like and make their dreams a reality. Erin’s dream is to work as a nurse assistant in a hospital setting, and currently she is doing this at a local retirement home while she is still in college. She is the first CCS student to take nursing courses, and she opened the door for others to follow! Erin has been working hard toward this goal, making the Dean’s list every semester!!

Her academic supervisor said that Erin “continues to live out her dream of being independent by living in the college dorms and participating in every aspect of college life. She stresses over midterms and finals like any college student, while learning to manage her time and activities of life in a positive manner. She builds on her strengths and bravely conquers the challenges of her weaknesses. She embraces the many facets of self-determination and demonstrates them daily by problem solving and goal setting. Erin never settles for the margins of life but strives to reach the goals she has set to be an independent and competitively working young woman.”

Erin, keep breaking down barriers and going for your dreams!!
