Hi, my name is Lexi and I am blessed to be mom to four amazingly wonderful kiddos and wife to my husband Brian. In October 2017, I learned I was pregnant with my fourth baby! This was a SHOCKING discovery, but one that we slowly embraced over time. I learned about Ruby’s Rainbow about this same time from a friend on Instagram, and I started to follow Liz on Instagram too. I was so inspired by and impressed with the stories of success from her scholarship recipients — the whole idea behind this charity gave me the warm-fuzzys! I made my first donation during the 3/21 Pledge in March of 2018, when I was about six months pregnant.
Fast forward three months, to June 21, 2018 when Baby #4 arrived at 4:49 AM and the doctors told us they had reason to believe Everly might have Down syndrome. Her diagnosis was confirmed eight days later when her blood test revealed she did in fact have three copies of the 21st chromosome. I won’t lie — it’s been an overwhelming couple of years since her birth, but also the most wonderful years of my life, thus far. I think part of the reason I was OK with Everly’s diagnosis is the fact I had been following Ruby’s Rainbow on IG for nearly a year. It gave me a sense of hope to grasp onto and allowed me to believe that life for Everly WILL be OK.
