Hi! My name is Katy Reinke. I am a higher-education professional who is passionate about creating opportunities for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities to experience college! I spent my two years in graduate school researching how we can make the college experience accessible for anyone and everyone. I want parents and students to know that they have people advocating for their students from inside the university system.
I found my passion for people with disabilities when working with them at camp. My favorite day of camp was the talent show, because the campers were so excited to show everyone their chosen talents, and all the counselors and other campers were so excited to see everyone perform. The joy they spread and felt was so evident — I truly believe that they changed many lives, but specifically mine by being my friend.
I want students with disabilities to know that they have someone advocating and rooting for them when they go to college. Going to college can be scary, exciting and the time of your life, and I want to help fulfill those dreams for students not only by helping them when they get there, but making college possible for them financially!
